I feel much of my photography is a series of self-portraits. I don’t particularly like to see myself in pictures, feeling very uncomfortable when I do, and I don’t know why. I am drawn to the stillness of the moment. I choose the title Stoic States to portray elements of the human condition by photographing the almost monumental character of buildings or the solitude of places. I feel these images are a reflection of my situation. My perception of space has become a landscape of questions that do not necessarily need to be answered, just presented.
The sudden impulse to interact with a specific space and a camera is an opportunity to capture a complex moment in time that I can revisit again and again, when trying to better understand my true sense of identity in it. I will continue my work as a photographer creating new images and experimenting with different camera formats and composition styles. I become present and existent through my photography.
